How To Assign Your iPod To Drive Letter "i" Using Windows 2000/XP
Here are the steps that you need to take:
- Through the available USB or FireWire cable connect your iPod to the computer.
- Go to the Start Menu and access the Control Panel from Settings.
- Double-click on Administration Tools.
- Double-click on Computer Management.
- On the right side of the newly opened window you will see a list of all your connected disk volumes. The iPod should receive a designated letter between D and Z. For example, it can be F, but this does not occur necessarily, since the exact letter assigned does not matter.
- So regardless of the current drive letter of the iPod, right click on it and choose "Change Drive Letter and Path" .
- Click on the "Edit" button.
- Change your drive letter to "i" from the Assign a drive Letter pull down menu.
- Select OK at the next two dialog boxes.
- Close the Computer Management and Control Panel windows.
- You're done! Enjoy your iPod on your newly named drive "i".
