How To Assign Your iPod To Drive Letter "i" Using Windows 2000/XP

Here are the steps that you need to take:

1. Through the available USB or FireWire cable connect your iPod to the computer.
2. Go to the Start Menu and access the Control Panel from Settings.
3. Double-click on Administration Tools.
4. Double-click on Computer Management.
5. On the right side of the newly opened window you will see a list of all your connected disk volumes. The iPod should receive a designated letter between D and Z. For example, it can be F, but this does not occur necessarily, since the exact letter assigned does not matter.
6. So regardless of the current drive letter of the iPod, right click on it and choose "Change Drive Letter and Path" .
7. Click on the "Edit" button.
8. Change your drive letter to "i" from the Assign a drive Letter pull down menu.
