How to Connect the PSP to Your Computer
Connect your PSP via a USB Cable
The USB cable you'll need to make the connection must have an end with a 5-pin Mini-B connector; the other end should have a regular PC USB connector.
Since the PSP does not usually come with such a cable, you'll most likely have to buy one.
Here are the steps to connect:
- Locate the USB mini slot at the top of the PSP and plug the small end of your cable there
- Connect the larger end of the cable to a free USB slot on your PC; optimally it should be a USB 2.0 slot.
- Make sure the PSP is on, and go to the start screen by pressing the "Home" button at the bottom-left of the PSP.

- Use the left arrow PSP button (press it several times), to select the "Settings" menu.

- Now press the down arrow until you select "USB Connection"

- Push the "X" button, to start the connection.
- Your PC should detect the PSP device, and show it in Explorer as a new drive (for example, "F:").
- When you've finished and want to disconnect the cable, push the "O" button on the PSP first to close the connection.
Connect your PSP Memory Stick to your PC
Instead of using a cable, you could also take the Memory Stick from your PSP and access it from your PC using a card reader that supports PSP Memory Sticks.
- First, you need to make sure that your card reader is correctly installed and connected to your PC.
- Turn off your PSP, and take out the memory stick by opening the sliding door at the left side of your PSP.
- Put the Memory Stick into the card reader - your computer should now see the memory stick and you sould be able to copy files to it.
- When you're done, take put the memory stick back in the PSP and you should be able to access your files from there.
